Case Study: PPN 06/21 for a Building Maintenance Client (Camerons BMS)

by | Oct 31, 2025 | Case Studies, Suite Success

When it came to carbon reporting, Camerons BMS had a choice. They could have waited until new regulations or supply chain pressure forced their hand.

But they didn’t wait. They chose to get ahead of the game.

That’s where The Green Accountants came in. Their job wasn’t just to help Camerons meet a requirement; it was to help them weave sustainability into the fabric of their daily operations.

The Brief: Meet Requirements, Protect Pipeline, Keep it Practical

Camerons needed a PPN 06/21 compliant Carbon Reduction Plan and proof that they were acting on it. More bids were asking for credible Net Zero commitments, and a simple tick-box approach was not going to cut it. The job was to get compliant fast, then make improvements stick without creating busywork.

The Approach: Capability First, Then a Plan Clients Can Believe In

The team at The Green Accountants focused on four key areas:

  • Upskill the leadership team. Camerons completed accredited Carbon Literacy training through the Carbon Literacy Project. This built the confidence and knowledge they needed to act.
  • Create a credible plan. Working with Greentally Climate Tech, they developed an independently verified Carbon Reduction Plan aligned with government standards, setting admirable, ambitious, and achievable targets.
  • Make it public. A dedicated sustainability page was created to put all their commitments, progress, and certifications in one transparent place for clients and partners.
  • Focus on everyday wins. This meant less paperwork through job management software, smarter direct-to-site buying, better recycling and reuse, a feasibility review for solar, a switch to 100% renewable tariffs, and starting better conversations with suppliers.
What Changed for the Client

Camerons are now fully PPN 06/21 compliant with an independently verified plan and a carbon-literate leadership team. More than that, their operations are more efficient and resilient. The business is more attractive to clients, successfully winning work that requires carbon credentials and building deeper trust with partners.

Why This Matters for Accountants

This work plays directly to the core strengths of an accounting firm: governance, controls, documentation, and delivery. It starts with building capability, creates a credible plan, communicates it clearly, and focuses on practical actions that save both money and carbon. Clients value it because it protects their tenders, reinforces their values, and reduces waste.
